Fashion E-Commerce Banners

I worked within fashion e-commerce for six years, starting off as a copywriter and eventually becoming a brand manager. I worked with the studio and graphic designers to oversee the creation of hero banners for product pushes and campaigns. As I developed my own design skills, I wanted to showcase my entire skillset — I am good at merchandising, selecting out images that work well together, and cropping/laying out images in a way that looks dynamic.

I made some practice banners for Revolve, as I like their branding and photography. I did this once in 2018, and again in 2019. All images belong to Revolve.

2018 — Case Study 01

Revolve has a “Looks We Love” section that highlights a trend. After looking through all the images, I picked out a few of my favorites and created three different stories. In each design, I played around with layout and cropping of images to create a dynamic look. I also kept the design minimal and bold, to stay true with the company’s branding.

All copy is written by me!

The company also works with many social media influencers, and so I created a .gif email asset to showcase these images in a fun and engaging way.

2019 — Case Study 02

By 2019, Revolve had become much more social media-centric, with images of influencers dominating their hero banners. This is an interesting challenge because studio shoots tend to be controlled, in which photos have the same lighting and one stylist on set creating cohesive looks. Photos taken at a launch event or by an influencer while traveling, on the other hand, can have varied lighting and different stylistic choices in outfits.

In the banners below, I utilized collage elements, white space, and bold typefaces to unify the images and create a story. The first banner is edgier and depicts a night out, with a bold wide typeface and washed out flowers in the background. The second banner is more romantic, creating a story about jetsetting to the city of love in classic and chic looks.

I also created three graphic banners for Sales and New Arrivals. I kept it minimal but still punchy!
